Selex ES GmbH, a Leonardo company, has been awarded a turnkey software integration project for the Indonesian Agency for Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics (BMKG).
The supply consists of a national centric multi radar data processing center based on Selex’s proprietary application software Rainbow 5. The complete system will be used as a sustainable, scalable, and harmonized radar data processing framework incorporating 21 radars in the first stage, and – at a later stage- more than 60 national radars of different suppliers.
FTS ran a pilot project with its Remote Automated Observation System (RAOS). The FTS RAOS was installed on the Gentry Lookout Tower in the Apache-Sitgreave National Forests in Arizona. FTS wanted to show the importance of having a high power zoom, remote control camera located at a location with good field of view, such as a lookout tower for monitoring and detecting forest fires.
The FTS RAOS was used daily to scan the horizon, typically at the start and end of shift. On March 26, the customer was using the FTS RAOS over his lunch break, and noticed something unusual. After positioning and zooming the camera it was determined that this was smoke potentially from a wildfire.

It is an addition to the Lufft weather sensor family, but stands out completely from its predecessors in terms of price, measuring principles and areas of application. This is already evident in the completely new design: The individual sensors are well protected under a closed housing.
The initially compact device proves to be extremely versatile when looking at the data sheet. The measuring instrument issues 13 parameters with its 10 integrated individual probes. These are air temperature, relative humidity, air pressure, wind direction / speed, amount / intensity / type of precipitation, UV index (divided into 15 levels), sun position, brightness, twilight and global radiation.The built-in compass, an optional universal fixture and the possibility of data transfer via Wi-Fi make installation particularly easy.
The WS10 weather station can be integrated into the Weather Underground platform and thus becomes part of a global weather measurement network. This is done via the free Lufft Config Tool.NET.
