Huntsville, Al, May 23, 2018 — Baron and Kazakhstan-based Spetsosnascheniya, Ltd. announce that they have been awarded the contract to provide two Baron Gen3 Klystron C-band Megawatt Doppler weather radars to the Hydrometeorological Service of Kazakhstan, which is under the direction of the Ministry of Energy.
The Baron Gen3 dual-polarization radar system is especially well-suited to the unique climate and geographic conditions in Kazakhstan, where mountainous areas and desert zones are present. Due to this unique diversity, water management and accurate rainfall measurements are important. Baron’s advanced processing, patented radar calibration, and exclusive clutter suppression will play an important role in meeting the Hydrometeorologcal Services’ diverse needs.
Additionally, the radar will include new Baron-patented automatic radar calibration, derived from the calibration work Baron performed for the U.S. National Weather Service (NWS). This radial-by-radial ZDR calibration method provides reliable and continuous network-wide calibration during any weather condition, with less maintenance and on-site expertise required.
Kazakhstan will also benefit from state-of-the-art visualization tools in the form of two Baron Lynx® display and analysis platforms.
